Commercial vs. Theatrical
Commercial is bright, open, and approachable.
Theatrical is restrained and character-forward, with weight behind the eyes.
Most actors need both. We'll discuss which looks you need.
Looks
Two looks are the typical minimum, with many actors carrying three to four to show their range, especially if they are working across genres. It is best if the desired looks are clearly differentiated.
How This Works
01 - Before the shoot
We will have a short call to discuss the roles you are going for, and the current gaps in your current images. We will plan our shoot concepts and wardrobe from there.
02 - During the shoot
You will be directed through your session to get the most out of each look - expressions, eyeline, head positions, and all the little things that change what is expressed through the image. We will review images as we go, so you can see what is working and we can keep building on that.
03 - Selection
We can review your photos and choose your final images together, before you leave. We will walk through a simple process to narrow down our options and make final selections together. This doesn’t leave you guessing while staring at a full gallery a week later.
04 - Delivery
You will receive your retouched images digitally within a week of selection.
Retouching
Retouching is typically quite minimal, as you need to look like your photo when you walk into a room. The “2-week rule” is typically employed to retouch any blemishes that would typically come and go within a few weeks.
Wardrobe
For clothing choose solid colours with minimal patterns. Pieces can be textured, but avoid logos or text. Bring layers and multiple pieces so we can make adjustments, and shift the tone between looks. Select necklines that suit the roles you're targeting.
Style your hair the way you would actually wear it to auditions. Keep makeup light and natural unless a specific look calls for otherwise.
Location
Studio sessions are held in Edmonton at 10604 - 169 St NW, and offers free parking. Location work is available across the city if needed. Groups can be accommodated either in the studio or on location.
Pricing
All sessions include a prior planning session.
Additional retouched images can be added for $75 each, and a 48-hour rush can be requested, depending on availability, for $50.
Hair and makeup services, or a wardrobe stylist are also available upon request.
A $150 deposit secures your spot, with the balance due on the day of the shoot.
One free reschedule with at least 48 hours notice.

Common Questions
How much do actor headshots cost?
Sessions start at $200 for one look with 2 retouched final images delivered.
How often should I update my headshots?
Every twelve to twenty-four months, or sooner after any substantial change, for example hair, weight, or facial hair. An out-of-date headshot works against you
Do I need professional hair and makeup?
This is generally not required, unless you feel better having it. It is an option that is offered, along with the services of a wardrobe stylist. For acting headshots the goal is to look polished but relatable and recognizable, so we tend to keep it light.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes.
How fast will I get my images?
One week from selection. If you're up against a submission deadline, rush service is available for $50, depending on availability.
I'm just starting out, do I need this yet?
Yes. A clean commercial and theatrical pair is what you need to start submitting. Start with two looks and build from there.
